Best Cold Sore
Remedy
by Denny Bodoh
Do you want a great cold sore
remedy?
How about several of the top
cold sore remedy tactics known today?
If you want to be done with cold sores quickly, read this article now and you
will enjoy blessed relief in just a few minutes.
A good cold sore remedy will not likely be found at the store. Yes
there are many to choose from but they are mostly comfort remedies that do
little to stop and quickly heal your cold sore or oral herpes.
Here are four excellent cold sore remedy methods that have proven themselves
over many years to be quite effective. Give them a try.
1. ZINC
Well known as the healing
mineral, zinc can do wonders against your cold sores. Zinc is a strong
anti-oxidant and anti-virus used both internally and externally.
For internal use, a little goes a long
way. Most good quality multi-vitamins will provide you a daily dose of
about 15 to 25 milligrams.
And, if you get a lot of cold sores,
you should be taking a good vitamin supplement every day.
Now, you probably will still get cold
sores, but hopefully fewer and shorter in duration.
When you do get a cold sore, there is
a product sold for the common cold that you should try as a cold sore remedy.
The product I use is called "Zicam". It is a zinc gel that you swab inside
the nose. This form of zinc gets into your bloodstream very quickly.
It also works great as a topical cold
sore remedy. It is one of the few forms of zinc that will work this way
because it is so easily absorbed.
2.
LYSINE.
In recent
years lysine has been much talked about as a oral herpes cold sore remedy.
Lysine is an
amino acid (protein) that can stop your cold sore fast.
The herpes
simplex virus that causes cold sores needs another protein - arginine - to
create new virus. Without available arginine, a cold sore will not occur.
Flooding
your cells with lysine will replace the arginine stored there - and a cold sore
cannot be created using lysine.
Eating high
lysine foods will help but the best and most convenient cold sore remedy
is to take lysine capsules. They are cheap and they make it easy to fight
cold sores without changing your diet.
Most people
take 4000 to 5000 milligrams during a cold sore, and 500 milligrams between cold
sores. Everybody is different so you will have to experiment a little.
Lysine is
quite safe. It is a simple protein fraction found in most foods.
Wisconsin dairy products are very rich in lysine.
3.
GARLIC
Garlic is
one of the oldest and most respected herbal remedies known to mankind.
It is very
potent as both an internal and external cold sore remedy. Garlic
has the amazing ability to absorb right through your skin into your bloodstream.
Put it on your feet and in 20 minutes you will smell it on your breath.
THAT is some powerful medicine.
Fresh garlic
is best. Cut a garlic clove and rub the fresh oil on the sore area.
For
convenience you can purchase garlic oil at the health store, both in a little
bottle and in gel-cap forms.
Taking
garlic internally in salads or other food will help greatly to reinforce any
other cold sore remedy you use.
If you do
not want to smell like garlic, then give oregano oil a try. This too is
available in bottles for external use and gel-caps for internal use. It is
not as powerful as garlic but is far more socially acceptable.
4.
ALOE VERA
Aloe Vera is
an amazing plant. The liquid or gel inside the leaves of a live Aloe Vera
plant has remarkable healing properties. It is like "skin fertilizer" in
how quickly it will aid new skin growth.
Here is one
cold sore remedy that will be best to use once the sore blossoms open
because of its strong healing properties.
But
remember, there is no substitute for fresh gel from a live plant. The
bottled stuff just does not seem to give good results as a cold sore remedy.
This is a
cactus-like plant that is easy to grow. Itis a wonderful first-aid plant
that should be in every home. Great for all cuts and burns.
Whenever you
want, just pinch off a small piece of leaf and use it as an applicator.
For travel or work, you can pinch off a longer piece and store it in a small
zip-lock bag. It is good for a couple days this way.
There are
many more excellent cold sore remedy methods but these four will give you a good
start. They are among my top favorites of all time.
No matter
what other cold sore remedy you use, any or all of the methods mentioned
will greatly improve your chance for success.
